Safe and Sane Minutes

February 20, 2008

Welcomed all in attendance - meeting began at 7:40pm.

Secretary’s report from January were shared and approved.

No formal Treasurer’s report - Lisa shared that the last Bingo made over $7,000 and we received $800 more in donations. That should put us around $31,000.

We need to get back in touch with town commissioners. They are donating either $500 cash or a $1,000 savings bond to giveaway. This is apparently what they offer each year to safe and sane.

Food - Donna H. spoke on behalf of the food committee members. Need help and donations for March dance. A paper was passed around to sign up for baked goods.

There was an issue at the last bingo with the soup. For the next bingo, all soups will be purchased from Trinity United Church. All food (aside from baked goods) needs to be prepared in a health department approved facility.

Casino & Raffle Prices - No Report. Someone will be getting in touch with Sherry Georgoff to be sure she comes to the next meeting.

Gift Bags & Momentos - Barb Thomas and Kim Benjamin were inquiring on approx budget. Thoughts on that and what to place in the momento bags were discussed. A thought was brought up about giving each student a copy of the book, “The Places You Will Go” with maybe another trinket and cash.

Donations - No Report

Basket Bingo - Last one was a huge success! Thank you to all. Next bingo will be April 6th - Longaberger Basket and Vera Bradley - 2 King Tuts (1 for baskets and 1 for Vera Bradley)

Memory Room - Susan and Sandy have send paper out asking students for all photos on a CD to be turned in to them by April 15th. An aide will compile the photos for us. Memory Boards will be due by the end of May.

Golf - No Report = Donna H added for us to begin helping to round up sponsors for each hole. It can be a write-off on taxes for “advertising”. Let businesses know that.

Security - No Report

Fundraising - Donna H really stressed importance of selling out of the March Raffle tickets. She still has several who took out tickets and have not gotten back to her.

Kim Benjamin’s great idea on doing 50/50’s at home basketball games brought in $1,200 to safe and sane!

Lisa discussed dance silent auction items. We still need more items for this.

Please contact Lisa or Donna for dance tickets. Please consider getting together a table and attending!
